I personally love it when the uninitiated "get it"...if even for just a few songs. That's b/c i've heard it from so many haters of the band over the years--(ever notice how people who dislike the Dead really just DESPISE the Dead, with a white-hot intensity that's just scary?)

I think there's little risk of having the phenomenon get overcrowded at this late date. What happened post-InTheDark from '87 til about the end was more of a scene-crashing thing; and I don't mean that anyone who got turned on to the Dead after '87 was a poser, BUT it was pretty easy to spot who was (Gate crashers--dead giveaway)...and it really just acted as a catalyst to bring about The End. (It would have come anyway given Jerry;s deteriorating health and relapses).

But THESE days, I see the Dead--dare I say it--fading away a little more each passing year. The hard cores--well, THEIR love will not fade away, and that;s beautiful.

but i doubt very much love for the band will ever be in danger of being overrun by too many ears, if you get my drift.
